East Granby Update: Hayden 'Disappointed' with Progress
Town has just 19 percent of CL&P customers with power, as just four percent of residents were reconnected today.

Just four percent of East Granby residents had their power restored today, according to CL&P figures, a result that First Selectman James Hayden called "disappointing."
Over the last two days, just 19 percent of the town had electricity reconnected, leaving 81 percent - or 2,122 out of 2,611 customers - still in the dark as of Thursday evening.
"Today was disappointing with the amount of work they got done," Hayden said in a telephone interview. "I was disappointed at the tangible progress they have shown. We are five days in and we're still at 81 percent [without power]."

Hayden said that the power restored to residents today was again at the southern part of town, as workers make their way up to reconnect electricity to the intersection of Rtes. 187 and 20.
Though uncertain of the exact number, Hayden said that several CL&P crews were in town, though added that he was "uncertain what they will accomplish tomorrow."

The irony is that CL&P is using East Granby as one of 10 staging areas in the state for out-of-state contractors to report to and deploy from.
Hayden joins the growing number of local officials from area municipalities that is upset with CL&P's progress and has cast doubt over the utility's estimates.
According to its website, CL&P still estimates that 99 percent of East Granby will have power restored by 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
The following information was also released by the town:
