Learn to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables

Learn the principles of home food preservation. Diane Hirsch, of the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System, will speak on Tuesday, March 8th at the Granby Senior Center.  Learn to can, freeze, and dry fruits and vegetables so you can enjoy summer’s bounty all year long.

Frank Greene, from the Department of Consumer Protection, Division of Food and Standards will also speak that evening.  Frank will cover the legal aspects of selling jams, jellies, and acidified foods such as pickles, relishes, and salsas. Learn what’s required for you to sell a  favorite home recipe.
