The Real Value Meal

Cooking with local ingredients doesn't have to be expensive, or difficult.  But it is important.  The Granby Agricutltural Commission is sponsoring The Real Value Meal:  Making the most of local ingredients - an evening class aimed at teaching consumers how to use less common (and therefore less pricey) cuts of meat and less well-known (but more nutrient packed) vegetables and grains and why everyone should be using them now!  Chef Matt Tofil and Nutritionist Alicia Newton will unlock the mystery of how to use these local ingredients and why they are so valuable to your health.

Matt Tofil, formerly the chef at Copper Mill Bistro and currently the manager and butcher at The Meat House in Avon, will show us how to use some less popular cuts of meat and chicken.  Alicia Newton has a degree in nutrition and AADP certification.  She is dedicated to teaching habits that nourish a body's natural healing capabilities and empowering people to take control of their health.  She works at the Farmington Valley YMCA.  The program will be from 7 to 8:30pm on April 11 at the Granby Senior Center.  The program is FREE, but we ask that you please sign up by emailing info@granbyag.org.
