What Happened to Spoonville Dam

The Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook Wild and Scenic Study Committee will host the presentation, “What Happened to Spoonville Dam?” that will highlight the removal of Spoonville Dam in the summer of 2012, how and why it was done, and by whom.  It will also cover some of the dam’s eventful history, and discuss the effects of dam removal on the river’s many uses and functions.  The program will be presented by Eileen Fielding, Executive Director of the Farmington River Watershed Association (FRWA), who coordinated the Spoonville Dam removal project.  FRWA is a private, non-profit citizens’ group dedicated to preserving, protecting, and restoring the Farmington River.
