Funeral Arrangements Set for East Granby Fire Chief

Chief Peter Ahlstrin was killed in a crash on Route 20 in Windsor on July 14.

EAST GRANBY, CT - Funeral arrangements have been finalized for Peter Ahlstrin, chief of the East Granby Volunteer Fire Department, who was killed in a motor vehicle crash last Thursday.

Ahlstrin, 28, was killed in a rollover crash on Route 20 in Windsor around 10:40 p.m.

He joined the fire department when he was 16 years old and quickly advanced to Fire Chief, an appointment voted on by his peers, according to his obituary.

His family will receive friends Tuesday, July 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor.
