Your entire family may be counting the days until school begins. I am sure some of you have had peaceful and idyllic summers you wish would never end. Others of you may be feeling a bit stressed, juggling kids summer schedules with full time jobs, lawn work, vacation plans etc!
School certainly poses its own challenges, but there is something to be said for the regular routine. Now is the time to begin getting the kids (and perhaps ourselves) into a sleep cycle that will fit with the school schedule. If your kids have been up late and sleeping in, start slowly adjusting bedtimes to ease them into the earlier mornings that school will require.
The same thing goes for meals. If the kids have been grazing all summer, then it is a good idea to introduce breakfast, snack and lunch back into the routine. This is a good time to go over healthy eating habits, brainstorm good breakfast options and find what works for you and your children.
Back to school shopping can be a fun way to kick start the school year as well. I hope you all enjoy these last weeks of August, and are energized and ready for the 2013-2014 school year!
