Granby Advances to Basketball Quarterfinals
Four of six area boys basketball teams won second-round matchups Thursday, while both local boys ice hockey teams came up short.
Six boys basketball tournament games involving teams from north central Connecticut were played Thursday, with the locals emerging victorious in four of them.
Granby advanced to the Class M quarterfinals with an 84-82 win in double overtime over St. Joseph.
Bloomfield and Northwest Catholic also won their Class M second-round games, while Simsbury was victorious in Class LL. Glastonbury and East Hartford were both eliminated from Class LL play.

On the ice, Hall-Southington and Bolton-Coventry-Rockville-RHAM both dropped second-round contests and were eliminated in Division III action.
