Granby Candidate Profile: Sally King
Democrat is running for re-election to the Board of Selectmen

Sally King has lived in Granby with her husband, Eric Lukingbeal, since 1984. She is a 1973 graduate of Wesleyan University and received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Western New England College School of Law in 1978.
She practiced law in Hartford with Robinson & Cole from 1979-93 as an associate and partner, specializing in litigation.
She has been a member of the Board of Selectmen since 1993, and also served on the Inland, Wetlands and Watercourses Commission (from 1987-2000).

She is a member of the Juvenile Review Board, the Democratic Town Committee, and has been active with the Granby Horse Council. She also has been a member of the Farmington Valley Towns Collaborative, a group consisting of the chief administrative officers and elected officials of the towns of Granby, East Granby, Simsbury, Farmington, Canton and Avon, which meets monthly to discuss issues of common concern to the Farmington Valley towns.
She has been active with the Village for Families & Children, Inc., a 200-year-old human services agency in Hartford, serving the needs of children and families in the capital area, as a member of its board of directors from 1990 to 1999 and as chairman of the board from 1996 to 1999. She was also active with the United Way of the Capital Area, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.

GOALS AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
- Continue strong, proactive oversight of the Town's capital and yearly budgetary process.
- Continue cooperating with the Board of Finance and the Board of Education in the long-term financial planning of the Town's capital needs.
- Encourage and facilitate the preservation of Granby's unique rural character and heritage.
