Granby Democratic Town Committee Establishes Scholarship

The DTC will award $500 to a qualifying Granby student that best exemplifies its mission.

The following is a press release from the Granby Democratic Town Committee:

The Granby Democratic Town Committee (DTC) has established a $500 scholarship to recognize a Granby student who best exemplifies our mission, Making Granby a Better Community, and has demonstrated engagement in the political process.

The Granby Democratic Town Committee’s mission is “Making Granby a Better Community” by:

  • Selecting and supporting party-endorsed candidates for elected and appointed positions in municipal, district, state and federal government;
  • Electing delegates to represent Granby at state and district conventions of the Democratic Party of Connecticut;
  • Actively promoting Granby residents’ participation in the political process and exercise of their voting rights;
  • Providing information to raise Granby residents' awareness of opportunities and issues in government.

To be eligible the applicant must be a Granby resident, graduating from in 2012 and registered to vote if 17 or older. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student on May 30, 2012 at the GMHS Senior Awards night.

The application may be found online at www.granby.dems.info or may be obtained by emailing granby.democratic.town.committee@gmail.com. A copy of the application is also available at the Granby Memorial High School guidance office.  

The deadline to apply is April 25, 2012.
