Granby Development Commission Reviews Grand List

The Oct. 1, 2010 Grand List saw an increase in tax revenue from real estate and motor vehicles, slight decrease from personal property.

Director of Community Development Francis Armentano announced that Granby had a .73 percent increase to the Oct. 1, 2010 Grand List over the previous year during the Granby Development Commission meeting Monday.

Last year, Granby saw an increase of .66 percent in the Grand List, Armentano said.

“We did manage a .73 increase, which is better than last year,” he said.

Armentano drew attention to increases in two of the categories of the taxable property in town, including real estate and motor vehicle.

Personal property went down -.39 percent, or $68,630, Armentano said. On the other hand, real estate increased a total of .34 percent, or $3,241,530, and motor vehicle, an increase of 5.91 percent, or $4,545,630.

Armentano said the net assessment for real estate went from 955 million to 958 million this year. In the category of motor vehicles, the value went from just over 76 to 81 million and lastly, personal property from roughly 17.48 to 17.415 million.

Real estate accounts jumped from 4,678 to 4,684, motor vehicles from 11,648 to 11,787 and personal property, from 398 to 405.

Armentano said the last revaluation date in town was Oct. 1, 2007 and the next one is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2012.

Armentano also updated the board on Planning and Zoning Commission activity. An application was recently filed for a new nail salon in the Geissler’s Supermarket plaza.  This would be the third nail salon in Granby.

The application will be addressed at a future PZC meeting. Their next scheduled meeting is next Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room.
