As Election Day nears, we want to hear from the candidates running for office on why residents should vote for them.

Election Day is now less than a month away as we head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

This year the election focuses on local races across the state.

We at Patch want to do our part to allow candidates running for elected office to share information with constituents concerning their candidacy and why they want to serve.

We’re hoping that once you hear from the candidates, it will help to inform you and encourage you to head to the polls and vote on Election Day.

Local elections are important because the people we vote for determine the local tax rate, the vital town services we rely on, and, of course, make decisions concerning how our children are educated.

While the stakes are high at election time, data shows people are voting less and less. In the last election, the New York Times, noted that in 43 states less than half of the people eligible to vote actually did.
