Granby Farmers’ Market is Going Green!

On July 23rd the Granby Farmers’ Market will be going green.  Each week our farmers help us to be environmentally friendly by providing local foods and this week we will have a few additional special guests to show how we can be more environmentally conscious.  Community Energy will show how you can participate in the CTCleanEnergyOptions program to bring more renewable energy to Connecticut.  Paine’s, provider of recycling services for Granby, will be there to answer all of your recycling questions.  Dr. Energy Saver can help you to make your home more green and energy efficient.  They provide home energy evaluations and free estimates to homeowners helping them enjoy greener, more comfortable, and healthier homes, at an affordable price.  Recycling clothing is another great way to go green.   Teenage Wasteland Consignments of Simsbury, CT is a hip consignment store for teensThey carry designer brands such as J Crew, Eagle, Abercrombie, Ed Hardy, Coach, Citizens, and True Religion.

Our entertainment will be returning favorite from last year, Hannah’s Field. Mike Webster will also be with us this week for another cooking demonstration.  If you’re looking for new ways to prepare the fresh local foods you get at the Granby Farmer’s Market, come by and see what Mike will be preparing.  He has been making delicious dishes using fresh shiitake mushrooms from New England Green Mushroom, greens from Winlox Farms, goat cheese from Beech Tree Ranch and he even made a delicious salad dressing using Chet’s Italian Ice!

The Granby Farmers’ Market is open every Tuesday from 3:00-6:30 at the Farmington Valley YMCA.  For more information, including great farmers’ market recipes, go to www.granbyfarmersmarket.com.
