Granby Memorial Boys' Comeback Falls Short Against Avon
Bears fall behind by as much as 19 before succumbing to the deeper Falcons team.
After trailing by 19 points to Avon High early in the second half, Nick Mazzotta led the Granby Memorial High boys basketball team on a furious comeback that brought them level with one minute left in the third quarter.
The Bears, however, didn't have enough in the tank to complete the Cinderella story, falling to the Falcons 70-60 on Avon's Senior Night despite Mazzotta's game-high 30 points.
Jacob Forschheimer (19 points) and Ryan Marioni (17) led the Falcons, who improved to 13-4 on the year. Forschheimer and Marioni combined for five 3-pointers, matching Mazzotta's output on the evening.
