GRANBY MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL BAND HONORED BY THE 2013 CONNECTICUT VETERANS PARADE

Granby Memorial High School Band won the Best High School Band Award in the 2013 Connecticut Veterans Parade. Twenty (20) different musical units marched in the Sunday, November 3 parade through Downtown Hartford, including college, high school and middle school bands, pipe and drum, and fife and drum bands. A judging panel selected one winner in each of five categories. Each band will receive a trophy from parade organizers.

The other winners of the 2013 Connecticut Veterans Parade Band Awards:

Best Middle School Band Award went to goes to Windsor Locks Middle School "Wildcats" Band;

Best Fife & Drum Band Award went to the Junior Colonial Fife & Drum Corps of Westbrook;

Best Pipe & Drum Award went to Manchester Regional Police and Fire Pipe Band; and

Best Parade Spirit Award went to The Salvation Army's HPD (Hartford Proud Drummers) Cold Groove Percussions.

Close to 3,000 marchers marched in the Sunday, November 3’s 14th annual “Connecticut Veterans Parade”. The event is the largest veterans parade in New England and is one of the largest salutes to veterans in the entire U.S.
