Granby Public Schools Closed Until Monday; School Board Meeting Canceled
Several issues, including lack of power and student safety, have led to cancellation of classes for the remainder of the week.

Granby public schools are closed for the remainder of the week, according to Superintendent of Schools Alan Addley.
The combination of a lack of power, concerns over student safety with downed trees and power lines still littering the town landscape and logistical issues led Addley to decide to reopen schools Monday.
"There's just a lot of complications," Addley said. "It's logical to push [reopening schools] back to Monday."

Addley said that he had not fully addressed what impact the additional cancellations will have on the end of the school year.
"I'm not sure what Monday will bring," Addley said. "The implications for the end of the school year are up for discussion."

In addition, Addley said that the Board of Education's regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, has been canceled. On the agenda for that meeting is the planned discussion of the possibility of implementing all-day kindergarten and offering pre-school services within the district.
In East Granby, First Selectman Jim Hayden said that school was canceled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, and that the Board of Education was making decisions on closings on "a day-to-day basis."
