Granby's Kelly Lane Players to Present 'Fight for the Ribbon'

Play written by students will be held on May 24.

On Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m., the Kelly Lane Players will present a play authored entirely by students titled “The Fight for the Ribbon."  The performance is at the in Granby.  

The play is directed by Kelly Lane teacher Lori Armentano, who is being assisted by Meredith Hauser. Hauser is a junior at and has been assisting with the Kelly Lane productions since her freshman year. Armentano has been teaching at Kelly Lane School since 2001. This is the 15th production of the Kelly Lane Players directed by Armentano.

This marks the first time that a play conceived and written by students at Kelly Lane has been presented. “The Fight for the Ribbon” was authored by Cecelia Milbrandt, Jackie Grimaldi, Cheryl Latona, Erik Rosenberry, Nate Orluk and Eden Cowles. Milbrandt approached Armentano in January 2012 and asked if students could write a play. The students were recommended by their writing teachers to co-author the two act play and the result is an original comedic performance.

“The Fight for the Ribbon” is a light-hearted look at the recent Blue Ribbon School award received by the Kelly Lane School for excellence in education. Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for children and will be sold only at the door.
