During the event, guests will have an opportunity to select a handmade bowl and then have it filled with soup donated by participating restaurants. Attendees may keep their empty bowl as a reminder of the event's purpose.

Dessert will be served at the Expressions Pottery studio, located on School Street. The event will include wheel throwing demonstrations, face painting and body stenciling. Pumpkins will also be available at the studio, provided by the Peter L Brown Company.

All proceeds will benefit the Friend to Friend food pantry. The pantry is open weekly and serves, on average, 40 families. All eligible families are residents of East Granby. The food pantry supplements the needs of elders, young families with children and individuals who can use assistance. The Congregational Church has partnered with Friend to Friend to help those folks who are struggling financially.

Expressions Pottery Workshop is located at 9 School Street in East Granby. First created in 1972 the workshop was previously located in Avon. The potters and students make beautiful pieces of pottery and have a show room to exhibit and sell their work.

Members of the East Granby Women's Club along with Friend to Friend members have joined with the potters from Expressions in planning for this event. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure that enough bowls are created. For additional information please contact Alicia Van Neil, Social Service Director, at 860-653-4371.
