In Brief: East Granby Finance Board Issues Budget Guidance
Boards of Education and Selectmen requested to submit budgets calling for no more than 2.5% spending increases

The East Granby Board of Finance Tuesday evening requested that both operating boards - the Selectmen and Education - submit budgets that call for spending increases of no more than 2.5 percent.
First Selectman James Hayden said Wednesday that would mean that the town operating budget would increase somewhere in the neighborhood of $102,000.
On the education side, Superintendent of Schools Christine Mahoney recently proposed a budget to the school board that calls for a 5.7 percent - or $781,000 - spending increase to $14.375 million. A 2.5 percent spending increase would represent about $337,500 over current year’s spending.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 27, while the next finance board meeting is March 20.
