Every year I say I'm going to start early and every year I find myself playing catch-up. The tomatoes are all planted (I swear, I'm not going to find room to squeeze any more in!), some have flowers and hopefully will be setting fruit soon. Transplanting them was a month-long process!
The lettuce has just about gone past (I brought 25 heads to the food bank on Friday because it was starting to bolt). The pole beans are just starting to vine, but no flowers yet. The melons, squash and cucumbers took weeks to germinate, so they're not flowering yet either.
Looks like the next thing to harvest will be the raspberries (I'm picking just a couple a day) in a race with the blueberries. The strawberries are about done, and I lost the battle with the squirrels this year.
July is always a tough month in between the spring and summer harvests. I'm just hoping we get some rain so the raspberries don't dry up.
