McLean Offering Special Caregiver Educational Lectures: The Information You Need for the Care They Deserve

McLean invites you to a series of lectures designed to help caregivers better understand how Alzheimer’s and dementia impact their loved one’s needs, and offer support for those facing the challenges of care-giving.
The lectures are free will be held at the McLean Health Center, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury. McLean will provide a simple supper and an activity for loved ones, so the caregivers can be free of caregiver responsibility. To RSVP, call 860-658-3786 or visit www.McLeanMemoryCare/rsvp.org
The sixth lecture in the series will be held on Wednesday, October 16th from 6-7:30 PM. “What's the forecast? Navigation tools for selecting the most appropriate healthcare environment,” presented by Lori Riley, Managing Partner, Safe Harbors.

This presentation will help families communicate among themselves and with care providers and/or facilities to identify the "best" care setting. This includes the importance of incorporating the actual wishes of the senior with his/her physical and psychological needs, along with the concerns of family members to determine the appropriate path toward continuing care. Once a level of care has been identified, tips to evaluate and identify differences between service providers will be offered and help in deciding the most effective use of available funds.
