O'Connor Steps Down from School Board

After eight years, Board of Education member resigns due to work obligations.

The Board of Education bade farewell to John O’Connor, who has served as a member for the last eight years.

O’Connor resigned from the board due to work obligations; Wednesday was his last meeting.

“You will be missed,” school board Chairman Cal Heminway as he presented O’Connor with a plaque thanking him for his service.

“I leave this district in great hands,” O’Connor said.

In other business, new school board members Jenny Emery and Lynn Guelzow had their first meeting on Wednesday.

Among the reconstituted school board's first orders of business was electing officers. Cal Heminway and Matt Wutka were re-elected chairman and vice chairman, respectively, while Emery was tapped to the the school board's secretary.
