• Granby Public Works Director Retiring After More Than 40 Years (patch.com) — Granby's longtime public works director, Kirk Severance, is retiring Sept. 14, and the town is actively seeking his replacement to oversee roads, parks, trash, and major infrastructure projects. The revised role emphasizes construction management and road improvements ahead of a December referendum on five infrastructure bond questions, with a salary range of $100,000 to $140,000 and applications due by 4 p.m. Sept. 14.
   

• A 5-foot rat snake removed from Connecticut bathroom may have been following mice indoors (thecooldown.com) — Granby Police safely removed a four- to five-foot Eastern rat snake from a local home's bathroom after residents discovered it hiding there. Wildlife experts say such snakes are nonvenomous, often follow mice indoors, and can actually help with natural pest control, while offering tips on how human homes unintentionally attract them.
