SIMSBURY, CT: The Simsbury Historical Society is pleased to present a weekend of Heritage Day festivities, beginning Friday, October 17th, 5:30- 8:00 p.m. with Hops on Hopmeadow at Phelps Tavern, and continuing Saturday, October 18th, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with Heritage Day & Appraisal Fair at Phelps Homestead. Tickle your taste buds on Friday, then awaken your senses to the charm of a bygone era on Saturday.

Enjoy conversation and tavern games while tasting the beer of local breweries at Hops on Hopmeadow, back by popular demand on Friday, October 17, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Phelps Tavern. Participants must be age 21 or older and show a valid ID. Admission is $25 for members, $35 for non-members, which includes a 1-year membership to Simsbury Historical Society. Reservations are required; pre-payment is requested, credit cards accepted. Call 860-658-2500 to reserve.

Travel back in time and experience the life of a Simsbury resident over the last three centuries at the Heritage Day and Appraisal Fair on Saturday, October 18th, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The day will be filled with activities for the entire family – enjoy period games, take part in military drilling, attend class in the one-room schoolhouse, engage in an 1800s woodworkers shop, learn about tavern life between 1789-1839, view an exciting new exhibit, “Innovations in Pedal Power,” and much more! Knowledgeable professionals will be available to provide verbal appraisals of your prized antique possessions at the Appraisal Fair, with a fee of $5 per item appraised.
