South Congregational Church will host professional illusionist David Reed-Brown in an evening of "Meaningful Magic" starting 7 pm on Friday April 12 and Saturday April 13, and at 4 pm on Sunday September 14. A portion of the proceeds will support South Church's youth and adult summer mission building trip. Reed-Brown was the magic consultant for last year's performance of Denny Moon's musical "Abracadabra" by The Good Company Theater. He has performed across the country, internationally and in Las Vegas. He studies with some of the world's greatest magicians at The Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas. David says, "The art of magic invites us to question what is real. It frees us to escape the chains that bind us; frees us to discover dreams, wonder and hope. " DAVID REED-BROWN delights people with magic. He specializes in classic magic that is enlightening, inspiring and interactive, filled with joy and wonder for all. Audiences and participants are made to feel at ease, and often wind up as the stars of the show. It's about you. Sleight of hand, mind reading, and an elegant table floats mysteriously around the stage, even as a volunteer from the audience holds on to it. And, there's more... David tells stories from life that celebrate what it means to be human, to overcome great challenges, and to challenge our assumptions. Walt Disney's David Friedman says, “David Reed-Brown is more than just a magician. Yes his magic is expert and entertaining and awe-inspiring, but the real magic is the spiritual way in which he presents it. You leave his performances knowing that life itself is magical and filled with endless possibilities.” While 2012 Grammy Award winner Bill Pere says, "David’s real magic is not just the amazing illusions he creates on stage, but the looks of wonder and joy he brings to faces of all ages in the audience.” And Robert Cumming, Founder of Connecticut's Gilbert & Sullivan Society says, "I recommend his uncanny presentation… slick… well-deserved raves… a clever Renaissance Man.” Tickets for Meaningful Magic are available by ordering online at www.Reed-Brown.com, by calling 860-304-0021 or by purchasing them locally at Granby Pharmacy. Tickets for purchase and Will Call will be available at the door. However, advance purchase is recommended as seating is limited.
