These are the 10 Snobbiest Places to Live in Connecticut: Report

A data company says it has compiled the snobbiest places to live by using science. Did Granby or East Granby make the list?

RoadSnacks is back with its latest list called “These Are The 10 Snobbiest Places in Connecticut.”

“Connecticut definitely has snobs. In fact, who isn’t a snob in Connecticut?” the authors write.

They’ve recently released some interesting lists including: “These Are the 10 Worst Places to Live in Connecticut, the number of Ashley Madison cheaters by town in Connecticut, and the top 10 most redneck places to live in the Nutmeg State.

Once again RoadSnacks provides its disclaimer that its findings are “infotainment” and it’s based on data and science, and is nothing personal.

The criteria for determining the snobbiest places in Connecticut included examining every community with more than 5,000 people.

For example, the higher the median home price, the snobbier a community is considered, same for median household income and percentage of the population with college degrees.

Also a community is considered snobbier if it has a higher number of theaters and art galleries in a community.

“And to be clear, we’re not judging the people who live here. We’d probably be snobby ourselves if we lived in these places,” RoadSnacks writes.

After analyzing more than 100 cities, RoadSnacks says that these are the 10 snobbiest cities in the state of Connecticut:

  1. Darien
  2. Greenwich
  3. Old Greenwich
  4. Weston
  5. New Canaan
  6. Westport
  7. Wilton
  8. Riverside
  9. Cos Cob
  10. Simsbury

“This list probably wasn’t a shocker for anyone who lives anywhere but in Darien. In fact, the snobs there are probably wincing, because now we all know that they think they’re better than the rest of us,” RoadSnacks writes.

The authors had some fun at Darien’s expense as they write, “When you have to correct people on how to properly say the town’s name, there’s a certain air about you. (It’s pronounced “Dairy-Ann”).

“Folks here make way more money than just about anyone else in the richest state in America. Meaning the 20,000 people in Darien are most likely the snobbiest people in the entire nation. The homes here are the biggest, grandest of anywhere in the state, too,” RoadSnacks writes.

Greenwich was No. 2 because it has 10 private schools and the average home price is $1.348 million.

New Canaan entered the list at No. 5 because it has three private schools and the median household income is among the highest in the county at $167,037.

Westport was right behind at No. 6 because of its high median household income of $152,587, the median home price $1.062 million and it has a number of private schools.

Simsbury was the only non-Fairfield County community to crack the top 10 as the authors note that higher median income household of $150,000, but notes there homes are a lot cheaper on average around $325,000.

“So, perhaps they’re a little snobby, but there’s most likely some ‘regular guy’ mixed in there as well.”
