Town Meeting in East Granby Scheduled for Monday

Residents asked to approve two capital appropriations totaling $367,000, of which the town would be responsible for $104,500 after FEMA reimbursement.

TOWN MEETING – MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 7:30 p.m. AT THE EAST GRANBY SENIOR AND COMMUNITY CENTER

There will be a Town Meeting held at the East Granby Senior & Community Center on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 pm. The meeting will consider two Storm Alfred related capital appropriations as approved by the Board of Selectman and the Board of Finance on Monday, Nov. 7.

The first appropriation request would be used to purchase a used wood chipper for $17,000 which will assist the Town Highway Department in chipping current and future storm debris and for Greenway Trail maintenance.

The second appropriation is for a sum not to exceed $350,000 for limited debris pickup and disposal at residents’ curbside areas. The $350,000 expenditure would be contingent o a 75 percent FEMA reimbursement of $262,500 or a net Town cost of $87,500.

Pending Town Meeting and FEMA approvals, East Granby residents would be instructed to stack brush curbside in anticipation of a late November clean-up by a contractor and our Highway Department.

Additional instructions will be forthcoming. Those residents on state highways can bring debris to within three feet of the road and the State DOT will remove the debris.
