Wapping Fair
A four-day agricultural fair in South Windsor offers a zoo, pig and duck racing, live bans, more than a dozen rides, hundreds of animals and plenty of food. Times vary throughout the weekend.
Double Dog Rescue Build A Bed Event
Double Dog Rescue is looking for volunteers to help make 200 dog beds that the local organization will send to shelters. "Help us provide shelter dogs with an alternative to sleeping on a concrete floor; freezing on the ice in the winter or sweating on the hot pavement in the summer." Event to be held at the Thomas Hooker Brewery on Sept. 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bloomfield.
Giant Used Book Sale
The Simsbury Public Library will hold its annual used book sale with thousands of books. The sale is famous for its size and efficiency, according to this Patch article. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at the library.
Granby Grange #5 Chicken Barbecue and Agricultural Fair
The Granby Grange hosts this event with live entertainment, exhibits, judging and dinner at the Grange Hall, 212 North Granby Road (alias CT Rt. 189, North) on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7.
