Woman Charged With Multiple Defecations on East Granby Roadway
The woman is accused of utilizing an undeveloped cul-de-sac as a lavatory on three different occasions.
EAST GRANBY, CT — A lengthy investigation into multiple cases of human defecation on an undeveloped cul-de-sac has concluded with the arrest of a woman who police say has admitted to the crime.
Holly Malone, 43, of Simsbury, was charged on a warrant Tuesday with second-degree breach of peace in connection with the series of incidents, which began in early November.
According to an affidavit written by East Granby Resident Trooper Sean Mahar supporting Malone's arrest, on Nov. 7, Mahar received an email from First Selectman James Hayden, referencing a complaint from a resident about needles, human excrement and what appeared to be toilet paper in the roadway on Kirkstone Drive, a cul-de-sac off Brentwood Drive about a quarter-mile from Holcomb Street.

Nine days later, a pile of feces with a white napkin or toilet paper was discovered in virtually the same spot. That day, Mahar bought a Browning Strike Force 850HD Trail Camera, a motion-activated camera typically used for hunting that takes photographs during the day or night when movement is detected. The camera was installed on the upper portion of a light post on Kirkstone on Nov. 17, he wrote.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 5, an officer observed a brownish-yellow liquid and a white napkin or toilet paper in the same general location on Kirkstone. The camera revealed that on Dec. 4 at 3:02 p.m., a blue Ford 500 drove into the cul-de-sac and parked, and a woman with brown hair exited. At the time, no feces was visible in the roadway, but a photo captured a minute later of the vehicle leaving showed a yellowish liquid with white paper next to it, Mahar wrote.

Investigation led police to Malone, who lives in an apartment complex on Wolcott Road in Simsbury, about 3.4 miles from Kirkstone Drive. On Dec. 6, Malone came to the Resident Trooper's Office and was told she and her vehicle were photographed, at which time she admitted to the previous day's incident, stating it may have happened on up to two previous occasions, Mahar wrote.
Malone said she is lactose intolerant and is supposed to avoid dairy products, but sometimes she is "stupid." He said she had been on her way home and needed to relieve herself, so she used the dead end road. She appeared remorseful, and "realized what she did was disgusting," Mahar wrote.
