The United States Power Squadrons celebrate 100 years promoting boating through education, community involvement and fellowship and First Selectman Peter Tesei gives the Greenwich squadron the Town Proclamation for National Safe Boating Week May 17 24. Mr. Flare/Up! - George Friend - presents Mr. Tesei with three flares. June 2nd he will lead the event at Stamford's West Beach that enables the public to fire off their outdated marine flares and be trained in safety.
Executive Officer Leslie Napoleon of Greenwich receives the proclamation and thanks Mr. Tesei for his continued support of Greenwich.
The marine police boated over to Grass Island for the occasion - and thanked the squadron for all THEY do for keeping the waters safe.
