136 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Greenwich Public Schools This Week

Friday's update of 81 new COVID-19 cases is the biggest increase for the school district since Jan. 21.

GREENWICH, CT — There were 136 new COVID-19 cases reported within the Greenwich Public Schools District this week, according to the district's case tracker.

The tracker updates every Tuesday and Friday. Friday's update of 81 new cases is the largest increase for the district since Jan. 21.

"The Connecticut DPH has advised school districts across the state that COVID transmission rates have been steadily increasing during the recent Spring Recess," said district spokesperson Jonathan Supranowitz in an email response. "We have asked the entire GPS community to help reduce potential risks by staying home if they are experiencing any symptoms - regardless of how mild - and to test."

According to the case tracker, there are 86 active cases affecting every public school in town. Greenwich High School has the most active cases with 15, followed by Eastern Middle school with 11 and International School at Dundee with 10.

Of the 86 cases, 75 are students, 10 are teachers and one is a service provider.

Since the school year began on Sept. 1, 2021, there have been 2,745 cases reported.
