CT Weather: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Move In Tuesday

The nice stretch of weather will soon be ending for us in Connecticut as stormy weather soon enters the picture. Here's the latest details.

A mini-stretch of nice, almost fall-like weather will end on Tuesday as heavy rain moves into Connecticut and it could produce strong to possibly severe thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday. A Hazardous Weather Outlook has already been issued for Northern Connecticut in advance of the expected heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.

Once the unsettled weather moves on, then we're right back to fall-like weather with temps in the mid to upper 60s with periods of sun leading into next weekend.

The National Weather Service says, "clouds will increase later this afternoon as a frontal boundary to our south heads back north. Seasonably cool conditions will continue with highs only in the middle to upper 60s.

Light rain will move in from southwest to northeast tonight into Tuesday morning as the front continues its approach. The rain will increase in intensity on Tuesday, coming down moderate to locally heavy at times. The best chance for rain will be during the day on Tuesday. There is a low potential for localized flooding during this time frame. Unsettled conditions continue into Wednesday, with much warmer temperatures expected as the warm front lifts north of the region."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Dry weather all day today and on the chilly side with some wind! High temperatures will only be in the 60s! Heavy rain expected tomorrow all day long! A few scattered showers possible on Wednesday with higher humidity. Drying out on Thursday!" (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
