33 Greenwich High Seniors Named As 'Commended Students'
The honor was given by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, according to Greenwich Public Schools.

GREENWICH, CT — Thirty-three Greenwich High School seniors have been recognized as Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, according to a news release from Greenwich Public Schools (GPS).
Commended Students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
GPS noted that there are approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

"Although they will not continue in the 2022 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2022 competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test," GPS said in a news release.
Last week, 22 students from around Greenwich were named as National Merit semifinalists.

Greenwich High School Principal Ralph Mayo congratulated the students for the honor.
"These seniors have worked extremely hard during their time at Greenwich High School," Mayo said in a news release. "To be recognized on a national level is a wonderful honor. Each of these Cardinals are very talented and deserving of this recognition."
The students will be recognized by the Board of Education at its January 20 business meeting.
