GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department said four cars were stolen around town last weekend. All were unlocked with the keys left inside.

A 2013 Dodge Durango was taken from Laddins Rock Road on Oct. 16, and a 2006 Toyota Prius was reported stolen on Oct. 17 from Mary Lane, according to Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the GPD. That car was later recovered in Stamford.

Two Land Rovers were stolen from a country club in town mid-morning on Oct. 17. Additionally, a Prius that was reported stolen out of New Jersey was left at the club, O'Reilly said.

O'Reilly urged residents to lock their cars and take their belongings with them. Car thefts have continued to plague Greenwich in recent years.

"We cannot stress enough that residents need to lock up their vehicles and remove the keys/fobs whenever they are away from the vehicle.," O'Reilly said. "As long as the car thieves are successful with stealing cars here, they will keep coming back."
