4 Cars Stolen On Sept. 20, Most Recovered Elsewhere: Greenwich PD
The Greenwich Police Department is urging residents to lock their car doors and take their belongings with them.

GREENWICH, CT — Four cars were stolen in Greenwich over a 17-hour period on Sept. 20, Greenwich Police said on Friday, and three of them were recovered outside of town. No arrests have been made yet.
On Sept. 20 around 3:30 a.m., a Jeep was taken from Valley Road in Cos Cob, police said. It was later found in New Haven. Later at 6 p.m., a Honda was reported stolen from Greenwich Hills Drive; it was recovered in Massachusetts.
At 7:42 p.m., a Range Rover was stolen off of Elm Street, and it remains missing as of Friday morning. Finally at 8:30 p.m., a resident reported a BMW missing from Palmer Hill Road. The car was picked up in New Haven.

Capt. Mark Zuccerella of the GPD said from Jan. 1 to Sept. 24 of this year, there have been 59 car thefts. Over the same time period last year, there were 98. There have been 89 larcenies from cars to date this year, compared to 153 at this time a year ago.
Zuccerella credits increased enforcement and action by the police department, but he still acknowledged that Greenwich still has a problem.

The majority of car thefts and larcenies have involved unlocked cars with the keys inside. Police are urging residents to lock their car doors and take their belongings with them.
