4th Of July 2019 DUI Checkpoints In Connecticut: When And Where

CT State Police are reminding drivers to obey all laws this 4th of July weekend. Several sobriety checkpoints are planned.

Connecticut State Troopers are preparing for the long Fourth of July weekend, when thousands of drivers will be traveling the roads and highways across the state, by stepping up patrols.

With July 4 falling on a Thursday, this will likely translate into a four-day weekend for many as they go to the beach, attend cookouts and enjoy fireworks. Troopers expect traffic to increase accordingly by the evening of Wednesday, July 3, and continuing through Sunday evening.

Troopers will also be on the state roads to ensure safe driving and conduct DUI roving patrols and spot checks over the holiday weekend. State Police remind drivers to buckle up, adhere to the speed limit, put down cell phones and concentrate on driving when behind the wheel.

State Police also remind anyone planning to consume alcohol during the holiday to always designate a driver and to never drink and drive. Anyone on the road who suspects they see a drunk driver is urged to call 911 immediately.

Police also remind motorists to obey the Move Over Law. Drivers should move over a lane if safe and significantly reduce speed when approaching emergency vehicles that are stationary in the shoulder or breakdown lane.
