Reports of vehicle thefts continued Sunday after a Maserati was stolen from Nicholas Avenue. According to Zuccerella, the suspected thieves later crashed the vehicle in Hartford, however no arrests have been made yet.

Reports of two more stolen vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz and a Porsche, came in Tuesday. The lieutenant said both vehicles were actually stolen Aug. 13, however they were not reported stolen until Tuesday.

Most recently, a red Ford Mustang was reported stolen from Carriage Road on Thursday. The vehicle was later recovered in New Haven, Zuccerella said.

The lieutenant emphasized that each stolen vehicle had been left unlocked, and the keys were left inside many of the cars. In one instance, keys were left inside unlocked vehicles while the owners were out of town, he said.

"We really need people to take their keys and lock their car doors," Zuccerella said to Patch.

He also noted that, while most of the vehicles stolen in Greenwich have been recovered, they are usually stolen to commit other crimes, either in town or in other communities.
