GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools is offering surplus furniture and equipment from the former Central Middle School building to nonprofit organizations and the public through two events scheduled this week at the school campus on Indian Rock Lane.
A surplus distribution event for nonprofit organizations will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Central Middle School, 9 Indian Rock Lane. Desks, chairs, file cabinets and other items will be available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, according to a legal notice from the GPS Purchasing Department.
Organizations must provide proof of nonprofit status, and all claimed items must be removed at the time they are received. Items will be distributed as is, with no exchanges or returns.
A public surplus sale is scheduled for Friday, June 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at the same location.
The sale will include desks, chairs, file cabinets and other surplus items from the school.
Purchases will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, and all items must be removed at the time of sale. Credit cards will not be accepted. All sales are final, and items will be sold as is.
Construction on the new 125,000-square-foot CMS is ongoing just north of the current school.
Currently in phase one of construction, the new building is slated to open to students and staff in August.
Demolition of the old building is scheduled to take place in July, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
