1. Greenwich Schools Announces Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) 2026-2027 (greenwichfreepress.com) β Families with children at New Lebanon School in Greenwich should know that breakfast and lunch will be free for all students during the 2026β27 school year under the federal Community Eligibility Program. 3. Next for the Wrecking Ball in Old Greenwich: Grandfathered 2-Family in Single-Family Zone (greenwichfreepress.com) β A 1936 two-family house at 37 Arcadia Road in Old Greenwich is slated for demolition, with the earliest permit date set for September 29, 2026. Because it predates 1940, any written objection to DPW's Building Division will double the waiting period to 90 days, giving neighbors more time to weigh in on redevelopment concerns and potential short-term rental impacts.

4. Longest-Serving US Prisoner Francis Clifford Smith Dies of 'Old Age' at 101 (ntd.com) β Greenwich figures prominently in the case of Francis Clifford Smith, convicted of killing a night watchman at Indian Harbor Yacht Club in 1949 and long considered the nation's longest-serving prisoner. After his death sentence was commuted, he spent decades behind bars, entered supervised parole in 2020, and has now died in a nursing facility at age 101.
