Dr. Alice Chen Joins Hospital for Special Surgery Affiliated Physicians Office in Greenwich

     Dr. Alice Chen, a physiatrist, has joined Hospital for Special Surgery’s Affiliated Physicians Office in Old Greenwich.  The office is located at 143 Sound Beach Avenue. 

      Dr. Chen is a board certified physiatrist, a medical doctor specializing in the nonsurgical treatment of muscle and joint conditions, as well as spinal and sports-related injuries. Back and neck pain are among the most common ailments she treats.

       "I'm excited about joining the excellent group of doctors in Old Greenwich, and I look forward to serving the community,” Dr. Chen said. “This office is a convenient location for Connecticut patients who don’t want to travel all the way to Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan for care.”

       Dr. Chen has been in practice as a physiatrist for more than a decade. Most recently, she was part of a medical group in Norwalk.  Physiatrists seek to get to the root of a patient’s problem through a detailed patient history, exam and sophisticated diagnostic tools. Treatment plans often include physical therapy and oral medication. Dr. Chen also specializes in ultrasound-guided injections for pain management.

     She received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1995. She went on to complete a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Kessler Rehabilitation Institute. She also completed a spine and sports fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center.

       Dr. Chen was recently featured on News 12 Connecticut, where she gave expert advice on measures to alleviate back pain and when to see a doctor.
