Greenwich PD Warns Residents After Black Bear Sighting
The sighting occurred on Monday, Aug. 14.

GREENWICH, CT — A black bear was spotted near Cat Rock Road in Greenwich on Monday, according to police, and the department is warning residents to be on the lookout for them.
A contractor working in the area reported seeing the bear, which was the second sighting in the area, following another sighting in North Castle, NY (just over the Greenwich border) on Saturday.
"No contact was made with the bear, and Greenwich Animal Control Division has been advised of the incident," wrote Lt. David Nemecek in a statement about Monday's sighting. "If you see a bear, please avoid contact and report the sighting."
