The Greenwich boys basketball team looks to start another winning streak on Friday when the Cardinals host Harding at 7 p.m.
Greenwich's six-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday with a 45-36 loss to Norwalk. The defeat left the Cardinals with an 8-2 record at the midpoint of the season.
While Greenwich is in a position to challenge for an FCIAC playoff spot, its second-half schedule is more difficult as the Cardinals still have to face the likes of Bridgeport Central, Westhill, Bassick, St. Joseph and Danbury.
Greenwich opens the second half with a contest against a Harding team that is struggling through one of its worst seasons in recent memory.
The Presidents boast one of the most storied traditions in state history, winning nine state championships in 34 years under former coach Charlie Bentley, who retired at the end of last season.
However, Harding took a 1-8 record into Thursday's non-league contest against Weston under first-year coach Charles Clemons.
The Harding girls team also is struggling, falling to 2-10 following Tuesday's 68-32 loss to Staples, so this is a good opportunity for the Greenwich girls to pick up their second win of the season.
Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. in Bridgeport, and the Cardinals (1-11) will be looking to snap their 11-game losing streak.
