The Greenwich Botanical Center is hosting its annual May Gardener’s Market, which is a day-long celebration of the arrival of spring and the busy planting season ahead, on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.In partnership with Sam Bridge and a selection of vendors, the grounds of the botanical center will transform into a bustling market with a wide variety of plants, supplies, and a host of items to delight gardeners.2026 vendors will include McCue Gardens (celebrating its 50th year at the market), Gazy Brothers, Amsonia, Blossom Bar, Smith Acres, Moorefield Farms, Turtle Moon, Marvin Gardens, Greenwich Gardens, Connecticut Gardener, Bonsai Bar, and Monogram Mary.

A series of three expert speakers will add a line up of 45-minute talks and demonstrations to the market day:

10:00AM - Spring Container Garden Demonstration/Sandy Lindh, English Gardens & Designs, LLC
May is the peak of spring planting season, and Sandy will demonstrate how to design a beautiful container using cool-season flowers that thrive in spring. Guests will watch the planting demonstration, gather ideas for their own containers at home, and enjoy a Q&A session at the end.

11:00AM - New or Unusual Annuals and Vegetables/Kristi Stromberg Wright, Sleepy Cat Farm
Experimenting with unfamiliar plants can often be daunting when you have tried and true plants guaranteed to produce a bountiful harvest or lush flowering display. For those looking to change routine, consider some alternatives that have been become regulars at Sleepy Cat Farm and are new, unusual, and all-around great additions to your containers, vegetable gardens, or perennial borders.

12:00PM - No-Fuss Roses: Blooms Without the Drama/Lorraine Ballato, Expert Horticulturist
Think roses are too fussy or time-consuming? Think again! In this lively and practical talk, you’ll discover how today’s modern rose varieties deliver stunning color, fragrance, and repeat blooms—with far less work than you might imagine. As time to purchase roses comes around, learn which roses thrive with minimal care, how to choose varieties suited to your garden, and simple tips for planting, pruning, and maintenance that keep your roses looking their best all season long. Whether you’re a longtime gardener ready to simplify or a beginner eager to grow your first rose, this presentation will show you how easy—and rewarding—roses can be.

In addition to the botanical and educational offerings, there will also be a Green Elephant Sale with gently used items like tools, planters, books and baskets for sale while the inventory lasts.There will be two food trucks on site for coffee, breakfast and lunch:

Brewberry Café: 8:00AM-12:00PM/Coffee, breakfast

Melt Mobile: 11:00AM-3:00PM/Gourmet melts

This annual event offers a unique opportunity to shop for the season, learn from a wide variety of experts, grab a bite, and enjoy the grounds of the botanical center.
