Car Stolen At Greenwich Gas Station: Police

GREENWICH, CT — An unattended car was stolen from a gas station in Greenwich on Sunday, according to police.

The theft occurred after a man put fuel into his car and went into the convenience store at the gas station located on East Putnam Avenue at Indian Field Road.

"Immediate investigation determined that after he left his vehicle the suspects pulled up in another vehicle, jumped out and entered the victim's vehicle and both vehicles fled the area southbound on Indian Field Rd.," Greenwich police Capt. Patrick Smyth said in an email.

An investigation remains ongoing.

"As a reminder you should never leave a vehicle unlocked and the keys within any time you exit your vehicle, whether at a gas station, car wash, or just for a minute to run into a store for anything," Smyth added.

The theft came over a week after a BMW X7 SUV was stolen as the owner was vacuuming the car at the Shell gas station in the 1400 block of East Putnam Avenue.

Four people were arrested in connection with the theft last Thursday.
