Central Middle School Principal Shelley Somers Is Named CT Middle School Principal of the Year
She received the award at the CT PTA Outstanding Administrator Awards dinner on Thursday night.

Central Middle School (CMS) Principal Shelley Somers has been named the 2015 CT PTA Middle School Principal of the Year as part of the Connecticut PTA’s Outstanding Administrator Awards Program and she received the award at dinner Thursday night.
Somers has been with the Greenwich Public Schools as principal of CMS since 2009. Somers was nominated by the school’s PTA and was selected by the CT PTA, based on the awards program’s criteria for leadership for learning, communication, community involvement, and professionalism.
The CT PTA’s selection notification letter stated, “Winning this prestigious award is a testament to an administrator’s success working collaboratively with the varying needs of PTA members.”

Somers was honored at the CT PTA Outstanding Administrator Awards Dinner held in Milford on Thursday.
Before coming to Greenwich, Somers worked for the Beaufort County Schools for 10 years as teacher and administrator at the secondary level, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2003.

Somers is a graduate of American University, the University of Hartford and earned her Administrative Certification from Central Connecticut State University.
