Mid-country Greenwich Home Burglarized While Resident Was Home

Greenwich Police say the home was partially ransacked during the daytime burglary.

A midcountry Greenwich home was burglarized Wednesday afternoon while a resident was in another part of the home, unaware that the crash she heard was made by thieves smashing open a rear door of the house.

Greenwich Police say it was about noon on April 29, when a the rear door of a Pecksland Road house was smashed and the residence burglarized. A 23-year-old woman was home at the time, police said.

“The resident was preoccupied with her own activities on the second floor, and did not investigate what she described as ‘a crash off in the distance,’ police said in a statement. “The burglary was not reported until a second resident came home and found the rear door forced open and the home partially ransacked.”
