Charge It! Metro-North To Expand Onboard Credit Card Ticket Purchases
After a successful trial, commuters will be able to use credit cards to buy tickets onboard trains.

Metro-North commuters will soon be able to swipe their credit cards to pay for onboard ticket purchases.
The rail line has announced that is expanding the use of its new Ticket Issuing Machines (TIMs) which enable customers to use credit cards to purchase tickets onboard the train to all lines. Expansion of the purchase program is being offered after a successful pilot launch on the Danbury and Wassaic branches, according to the railroad.
The majority of conductors will have the new devices by mid-April. Customers should listen for train announcements or ask their conductor if the option to pay by credit card is available.

Ticket purchases may be made using any major credit card (or by using a debit card as a credit card). Conductors also will be able to print out customer receipts from their upgraded TIMs.
But purchasing a ticket on board the train is always the most expensive option.
