Chickahominy Saw Most Growth In Greenwich As Hispanic Families Moved In: Report

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich's Chickahominy neighborhood recorded the largest growth in the city from 2010-2020 as a number of Hispanic families moved in, a report says.

Greenwich Time reported Chickahominy had 585 more residentsin 2020 than in 2010. This was the neighborhood with the biggest increase in overall residents and increase in the number of children, the newspaper said. Of these residents, 87 percent identified as Hispanic, Greenwich Time reported.

Overall, Greenwich saw a 3.8 percent population increase from 2010 to 2020, based on Census data.

According to Census data, Connecticut is also becoming more diverse; the number of Hispanic residents has grown in the state by 30 percent over the last decade.

Hector Arzeno, a member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, told the newspaper Hispanic families want to move to Greenwich because of the good public school system.
