College Admissions Scandal: Greenwich Lawyer Enters Plea: Report
Gordon Caplan and nearly three-dozen parents have been charged by federal prosecutors in an alleged college admissions bribery scheme.
GREENWICH, CT — Attorney and Greenwich resident Gordon Caplan, one of the parents charged in the federal college admissions bribery case, said Friday that he will plead guilty , reports Connecticut Law Tribune.
Caplan will plead guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. He is accused of paying $75,000 in order to have his daughter's ACT scores corrected in order for her to get a higher score, and in a statement he said he takes "full and sole responsibility" for his actions.
He has been suspended as co-Chairman of the prestigious New York City law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, and he is the second parent in the scandal to plead guilty, reports Bloomberg.
