The Best Column of the Year award (personal opinion) was given by the Connecticut Press Club last week to Greenwich Patch classical music critic Linda Phillips, who posts on the blog "Music in the Air" on Greenwich Patch. This is the fourth Best Column award for Ms. Phillips, who served as the reviewer for the Greenwich Post, and most recently The Greenwich Citizen, for the past 13 years.
The winning reviews were: "Fantastic Four Soloists of the Greenwich Symphony" and "The Greenwich Choral Society and the Stamford Symphony, a Truly Magical Collaboration".
Actor/comedian/author Charles Grodin received the Mark Twain Award for Lifetime
Achievement. His pithy and humorous remarks on his career were appreciated by the group, which included channel 12's Tom Appleby and representatives of Moffly Magazines.
The Awards dinner was held at the Greenwich Water Club.
