Construction To Begin Soon On Old Greenwich School

Here's when work will begin at Old Greenwich School.

GREENWICH, CT — Construction is set to begin next month on the much-anticipated Old Greenwich School renovation project.

First Selectman Fred Camillo noted in his weekly newsletter to the community on Friday that during the district’s April break, between April 6 and April 10, fencing will go up around the back of the school for Phase 1A of the project, which includes the construction of a new kindergarten addition as well as a renovated and improved playground.

"The fence is going up for safety and people are urged to stay away from the construction area. As a result of the work, the existing playground will not be available for use from April until the fall," Camillo wrote. "Old Greenwich School’s administration will make alternative arrangements for students during the rest of the school year and the goal is to have the new playground in place by the start of the new school year. The new addition to the school is expected to be completed in summer 2027."

Interior renovations are slated for this summer, including the gymnasium, cafeteria, music and art rooms, to go along with a new elevator.

All six phases of the project are expected to be completed by January 2029. Camillo noted that subsequent phases will continue around the building with all construction separated from students.
